The post included details that some observers believed could help identify their location.  Royal commentator Tom Sykes criticized the decision, arguing that the couple should have been more cautious because such information could create security concerns.  He also suggested, without providing evidence, that the post may have been intended to strengthen their case for receiving taxpayer-funded police protection.  EDUCATION DISTRICT VI, POCACOV SENSITISE STUDENTS ON CULTISM, DRUG ABUSE AT IDI‑ARABA SCHOOL COMPLEX


 


Lagos State Ministry of Secondary and Basic Education, through Education District VI and in partnership with Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has held a sensitisation programme at the Idi‑Araba School Complex to educate students on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and other destructive behaviours.


Speaking at the event, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, urged students to focus on their studies, personal growth, and future greatness. She encouraged them to reject negative influences such as drug abuse and bullying, emphasising personal responsibility, determination, and equality as keys to success. 


“Say yes to your studies, yes to growth, yes to greatness,” she told the students, reminding them that everyone is “meant to be great.”


Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices ( POCACOV) Coordinator, SP Olivia Ugochukwu addressed the severe consequences of destructive lifestyles, including violence, drug abuse, and imprisonment. Drawing from personal experiences, she warned that rehabilitation centres often resemble prisons, leading to lifelong struggles. 


The Coordinator further encouraged the students to resist negative peer pressure and choose positive role models.


The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Itire Police Station, CSP John A. Adeniran reinforced the message by warning against cultism, drug abuse, and crime. He explained that cultists destroy lives, discourage academic pursuit, and often push individuals into unintended criminal acts. 


He, therefore, implored the students to avoid bad friends, resist bullying, and remain open with teachers and parents. His advice was clear "say no to cultism, drug abuse, crime, and stealing, and commit to building a better future".


This sensitisation programme reflects the ongoing commitment of Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Education District VI and POCACOV to safeguard the future of young people by equipping them with knowledge, resilience, and the courage to reject negative influences.
