 NDPC LAUNCHES FORENSIC DATA PRIVACY INVESTIGATION INTO UNILAG, LOTUS BANK, AND HACKERBELLA The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) is investigating the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lotus Bank, and Hackerbella Ltd. This probe follows complaints that student data was used to open bank accounts without permission. The data sharing was reportedly part of a "Smart ID Card" project that mixed student IDs with bank cards. National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, ordered a full review of how this student information was collected and shared. Investigators are checking if the organizations followed the Nigeria Data Protection Act of 2023. They will look into the companies' privacy notices, data security, and whether they used automated systems to score or profile students.  FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO DISTRIBUTE CNG BUSES TO NORTHERN UNIVERSITIES 


In commemoration of the June 12 celebration, as well as to ease transportation challenges across tertiary institutions, the Federal government says plans are underway for the distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to some Northern Universities.


Special adviser to the President on policy coordination, Hadiza Bala usman, stated this at a one-day summit organized by the Northern Project Coordination office for thirty eight student government leaders across the nineteen Northern Universities in Nigeria.


For the student body, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration’s vision for  Education, Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Health sectors has brought succour, particularly through the Student Loan Fund, which has benefited more than one million students, with the number still rising.


The initiative is in fulfilment of the present  administration’s promise to Nigerian youths and students towards promoting social and economic growth.
