 China detains US seismologist for nearly two years without trial as family seeks release before Xi visit A China-born American seismologist has been detained in China for nearly two years without trial, with his family now publicly calling for his release as diplomatic efforts continue over his case. Youlin Chen, a Boston resident and U.S. citizen, was detained by Chinese state security officials in November 2024 while visiting his parents in Beijing and has since been charged with espionage, according to an organization assisting his family. Chen’s wife, Yufang Rong, said she has not spoken with him in more than 600 days and expressed concerns about his health and well-being. She said President Donald Trump has taken an interest in the case and she hopes his administration can help bring Chen home.  George Clooney's Wife Amal Demanded Him to 'Ditch His Drinking' After Being Rushed to Hospital in 2020: She Was 'Fed Up'


George Clooney’s dramatic weight loss for his 2020 film Midnight Sky led to a serious health scare, landing him in the hospital with pancreatitis. 


The actor later admitted he had pushed himself too hard to shed nearly 30 pounds quickly, neglecting his health in the process. 


His wife, Amal Clooney, was reportedly furious that he risked his wellbeing for a role and has since laid down strict rules to ensure he takes better care of himself. 


Sources say Amal, 48, wants George to prioritize his health so he can be present for their twins, Ella and Alexander.


Following the incident, George committed to a healthier lifestyle, working out six days a week with a mix of cardio and yoga. Amal has also encouraged him to cut back on alcohol, especially after his hospitalization. 


While he hasn’t completely given up drinking, insiders note that he now enjoys it only occasionally. Amal’s insistence reflects her determination to keep her husband in good condition, not just for his career but for their family life.


Despite the changes, George has reportedly been a bit resistant, with sources joking that he’s been “a real pain” about the restrictions. 


Still, Amal remains firm in her push for healthier habits, even looking forward to the day when he can safely indulge again. 


The couple, married since 2014, continues to balance George’s Hollywood commitments with family priorities, with Amal ensuring that his health remains at the forefront.
