Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has reportedly divorced his first wife, Halima Nwakaego, after five years of marriage and is now preparing to marry another woman later this year.
Bashir and Halima Nwakaego Kazaure, daughter of former Jigawa State senator Ibrahim Kazaure, got married on November 21, 2020.
During the Eid celebrations, Bashir sparked reactions on X after openly expressing admiration for another woman on the platform.
When users questioned his comments, he disclosed that the woman is his fiancée.
The revelation left many users surprised, prompting questions about his marital status.
In response, Bashir confirmed that he is now divorced.
Explaining the reason behind the separation, he wrote: "I divorced my first wife. I have no time for Gen Z wahala. The difference is clear. I had no clue Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors. Loving it."
Meanwhile, Halima had previously hinted at challenges in her marriage during the public discussions surrounding the marriage crisis between Frank Edoho and Sandra Edoho. At the time, she appeared to side with singer Chike, whom Frank had accused of having an affair with Sandra.
She shared a photo of herself listening to Chike's song If You No Love in her car and captioned it: "Chike dey for you."
