Former CNN journalist Jim Acosta has called for the dismissal of his former colleague Scott Jennings after Jennings engaged in a heated, profanity-laced exchange on CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip.
The confrontation occurred during a debate with MeidasTouch influencer Adam Mockler over U.S. involvement in the Iran War.
Jennings lashed out at Mockler, telling him he had “the attention span of a gnat” and later snapping, “Get your f---ing hand out of my face,” as tensions escalated.
Mockler later posted about the incident on X, accusing Jennings of throwing personal jabs and folding under pressure when challenged.
Acosta, who worked alongside Jennings at CNN for eight years before leaving in 2025, condemned the behavior on his own podcast, calling it “appalling” and insisting it was a “fireable offense.”
He praised anchor Abby Phillip for de-escalating the situation but argued Jennings has long crossed professional boundaries.
Acosta’s remarks underscore the seriousness with which he views Jennings’ conduct, saying the commentator should be handed “his boxes today” and removed from the network.
The incident has reignited discussions about decorum on live television and the standards expected of political commentators, especially when debates turn personal and aggressive.
