The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival opened with pure glamour on Tuesday night as some of Hollywood’s most celebrated stars arrived at the Palais des Festivals in unforgettable fashion.
Leading the conversation were screen legends Joan Collins and Jane Fonda, who reminded everyone that classic star power still carries serious weight on the red carpet.
Joan, 92, looked elegant in a flowing white gown paired with dramatic black gloves and sparkling diamond jewelry. Walking beside her was husband Percy Gibson, who stayed close as photographers crowded around the couple.
Not far behind her, Jane Fonda arrived in a shimmering black sequined dress that highlighted the grace and confidence she has carried throughout her decades-long career. At 88, the actress easily became one of the night’s biggest talking points.
Many guests and fashion watchers noted how refreshing it was to see veteran actresses commanding attention at an event often dominated by younger models and influencers.
Demi Moore also drew admiration in a strapless white sequined gown, finished with a striking diamond necklace that added extra sparkle to the evening.
The actress is serving on this year’s Cannes jury alongside director Chloé Zhao and actor Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd.
Meanwhile, Poppy Delevingne stepped onto the carpet in a delicate lace and velvet dress, while Maura Higgins brought drama in a black-and-white strapless gown featuring an oversized bow trailing behind her.
Heidi Klum embraced bold fashion with a sheer nude dress decorated with pink floral details, and influencer Caroline Daur turned heads in a feathered red-and-black strapless look.
Reality television personality Kimberley Garner also made an appearance in a soft pink floral gown as cameras flashed around her.
The festival’s opening also spotlighted the romantic comedy-drama The Electric Kiss, directed by Pierre Salvadori and starring Pio Marmaï, Anaïs Demoustier, Gilles Lellouche and Vimala Pons.
