Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  Katy Perry set for World Cup pregame show at SoFi Stadium as FIFA unveils opening ceremony entertainment lineup

 Katy Perry is set to headline pre-match entertainment at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on June 12 ahead of the United States’ opening game in the expanded World Cup, as organizers revealed a slate of performers for kickoff ceremonies across all three host nations.

The global music lineup will feature a mix of major artists for matches in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, where opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin 90 minutes before kickoff. In Inglewood, Perry will be joined by performers including Future, Lisa, Tyla, Anitta, Rema, and DJ Sanjoy for the pregame show ahead of the U.S. facing Paraguay.

In Mexico City, the tournament opener at Estadio Azteca on June 11 between Mexico and South Africa will include performances from Tyla, Alejandro FernƔndez, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Belinda, J Balvin, Los Ɓngeles Azules, and ManƔ.

Canada’s opening match in Toronto at BMO Field will feature Alanis Morissette, Michael BublĆ©, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, William Prince, Elyanna, Vegedream, and DJ Sanjoy as part of its pregame festivities.
