 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. KIRFI ARMED ROBBERY: POLICE ARREST ONE SUSPECT, RECOVER STOLEN ITEMS AS MANHUNT FOR ACCOMPLICES INTENSIFIES


The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded another operational success in its sustained fight against violent crime with the arrest of a suspect linked to a case of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery in Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area.


On 9th May 2026 at about 0600hrs, one Ibrahim, male of Bara Village, reported to the Bara Police Out Station that in the early hours of the same date, at about 0300hrs, five armed robbers forcefully invaded his residence. The assailants, armed with sticks and cutlasses, assaulted the complainant and carted away several valuables before fleeing the scene.


Items stolen during the attack included a bow and arrow, five mobile phones, two solar panels, and the sum of ₦422,000. Upon receiving the distress report, operatives attached to the Out Station, Kirfi Division swiftly swung into action. Through painstaking intelligence gathering and a prompt response, the team arrested one Naziru Alhaji Usman, male, aged 19 years, of Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet via Bara Village, Kirfi LGA.


During the arrest, operatives recovered key exhibits linked to the crime, namely one bow and arrow, one cutlass, and one solar panel. The suspect is currently in custody at the Out Station and is providing useful information to aid investigations.


Meanwhile, concerted efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining fleeing accomplices and recover remaining valuables. The Command has assured that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), commended the swift response of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. He further urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information, noting that community collaboration remains vital in the fight against crime.
