Merchants of Light School, Oba, in Idemili South Local Government Area, hosted its 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition on May 9, highlighting students’ athletic ability, discipline, and teamwork. The event drew students, parents, teachers, and invited guests for a series of competitive track and field events.
In her welcome address, the Principal, Mrs. Uchendu Ngozi Joyce, expressed appreciation to all attendees and extended special recognition to Sir Nonso Anigbogu for attending despite his demanding schedule. Following keenly contested events, Lagos House, formerly known as Pink House, emerged as the overall champion.
Mrs. Joyce commended all participants for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship, noting the event's aim to foster physical fitness, leadership, and healthy rivalry. She lauded Sir Anigbogu's sponsorship as a testament to his commitment to education, community development, and youth empowerment.
Sir Anigbogu, sponsor of Lagos House on the other hand, praised the students' dedication and hard work. He pledged ongoing support to sustain the school's excellence in academics and sportsmanship.
Members of the winning house expressed gratitude to their sponsor, teachers, and supporters. Highlights included the presentation of trophies, medals, and gifts to top performers and houses.
