Suspect (51) and accomplice under investigation as NAPTIP rescues victims and intensifies crackdown on child trafficking networks.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has commenced investigation into a suspected case of human trafficking linked to orphanage-related activities in Enugu State. The suspect, Thaddeus (51), is alleged to have been involved in the sale of two children to his uncle, Elies, in a case that raises serious concerns about the exploitation of vulnerable minors under the guise of care arrangements. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Agency carried out a rescue operation which led to the recovery of the two victims from Enugu State. The children, whose identities are being protected, are currently in safe custody receiving necessary care and support in line with the Agency's victim protection protocols. The case remains under active investigation as NAPTIP intensifies efforts to uncover the full extent of the trafficking network and ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to justice. The Agency reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of all children and calls on members of the public to report suspicious activities related to human trafficking.
