Meghan Markle has once again become the target of online criticism after a clip from the 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan resurfaced, showing her excited reaction to receiving a text from Beyoncé.
In the video, Meghan can be seen giggling and expressing disbelief that the pop star reached out, while Prince Harry encouraged her to call back.
Meghan read the message aloud, which included Beyoncé’s words of support, saying she admired Meghan’s bravery and believed she was chosen to help break generational curses.
The moment quickly went viral, with many social media users mocking Meghan’s enthusiasm and calling the scene “cringe.”
Critics argued that her reaction seemed rehearsed and overly dramatic, while others pointed out that Beyoncé appeared to distance herself from the couple afterward.
Some posts suggested that Meghan’s decision to read the private text publicly was inappropriate, with one user even joking that she should write a book titled How to Lose Friends and Influence Enemies.
Despite the backlash, Meghan and Beyoncé have shared public moments together over the years. The Sussexes first met Beyoncé and Jay-Z at The Lion King premiere in London in 2019.
More recently, Meghan attended Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour in Los Angeles with her mother, Doria Ragland, in 2023, and both she and Harry were spotted at the singer’s Cowboy Carter Tour in May 2025, showing that their connection has continued beyond the viral Netflix clip.
