 DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED CRIMINALS, RECOVER TWO BERETTA PISTOLS, NINE ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, SUSPECTED COCAINE, AND MERCEDES-BENZ SUV The Delta State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and other incriminating exhibits during a stop-and-search operation carried out by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Road on 25 July 2026. The suspects, Omini Ezeri (46) and Chinedum Wagbara (42), both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ. During preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, God Knows Ifreke, suddenly took to his heels and escaped into a nearby swamp.  PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES NEW KANO DEPUTY GOVERNOR, MURTALA GARO


President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, the new deputy governor of Kano State, following his swearing-in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday.


A statement by Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga says, Governor Yusuf nominated Garo to fill the vacant position created by the departure of Comrade  Aminu Abdulsalam, who resigned in the aftermath of the governor's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).


The 48-year-old politician had served in various positions, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government and as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the  administration of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.


President Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, which solidified the much-needed unity within the ranks of the APC in Kano State. 


He urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state's development. 


President Tinubu wishes Mr Garo well in the new responsibility.
