  Cops crash massive LA street takeover, towing 100 cars and detaining hundreds Cops sprung a massive sting on alleged street-racing hooligans in South Los Angeles early Saturday — reportedly detaining hundreds and preparing to haul away scores of vehicles. The Los Angeles Police Department told The California Post that officers issued a tactical alert at 3:21 a.m. and were still working the scene hours later, as of 9 a.m. No details were immediately available on arrests or citations from the LAPD. Video from the scene showed dozens of officers surrounding a massive crowd as people wandered between cars trapped at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard. Tow trucks stood by, ready to pounce.  PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES NEW KANO DEPUTY GOVERNOR, MURTALA GARO


President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, the new deputy governor of Kano State, following his swearing-in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday.


A statement by Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga says, Governor Yusuf nominated Garo to fill the vacant position created by the departure of Comrade  Aminu Abdulsalam, who resigned in the aftermath of the governor's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).


The 48-year-old politician had served in various positions, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government and as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the  administration of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.


President Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, which solidified the much-needed unity within the ranks of the APC in Kano State. 


He urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state's development. 


President Tinubu wishes Mr Garo well in the new responsibility.
