‘You will be arrested’ — NYSC DG warns corps members over cybercrime offences Olakunle Nafiu, director-general (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says serving corps members are not exempted from Nigeria’s cybercrime law during their mandatory national service year. Nafiu spoke in Abuja on Thursday during an interview, where he noted that corps members are citizens and are bound by the constitution and other extant laws regulating online conduct, cyber activities, and public behaviour. Nafiu noted that allegations of cyberbullying involving corps members would be investigated and handled by relevant law enforcement agencies in line with the law.

SECURITY INFORMATION IN ANAMBRA: IGP’S VIOLENT CRIME RESPONSE UNIT, A FORMIDABLE FORCE ON THE OFFENSIVE AS CSP AHMED AYUBA LEADS OPERATIVES IN THE STATE

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have intensified offensive operations across Anambra State in a sustained effort to combat violent crimes and deny criminal elements freedom of action.

The General Commander of the Unit in Anambra State is CSP Ahmed Ayuba. Before his appointment, he served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Anambra State Command. He also previously served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu and as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Obosi Division, among other strategic operational positions within the Command.

CSP Ahmed Ayuba holds a Master’s Degree in Security, Peace and Conflict Resolution from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and has distinguished himself through his commitment to intelligence-led policing, tactical operations, and public safety management.

The Command wishes to advise members of the public not to panic over the increased movement and presence of tactical police officers as Operatives of the VCRU have stepped up coordinated raids, surveillance operations, stop-and-search duties, and strategic deployment of personnel to identified criminal flashpoints across the State, aimed at combating kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, gunrunning, and other violent crimes.

Residents are, therefore, encouraged to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that could aid ongoing operations.

The VCRU Commander can be reached on 07030679375 and the office is located at Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at Agu-Awka.

The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in the State.
