SEE THE CROWD THAT CAME OUT TO MEET BTS GROUP AS THEY PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE PRESIDENT OF MEXICO. (VIDEO/PHOTO).

BTS visited Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace in Mexico City on 6 May 2026, where they greeted an estimated 50,000 fans gathered in the Zócalo. The group appeared alongside the president on the palace balcony, creating one of the largest public turnouts for an international music act in the capital’s historic square.

President Sheinbaum described the meeting as a meaningful cultural moment, noting that BTS’s long‑standing themes of friendship, peace, and compassion resonate strongly with young people in Mexico. During the appearance, RM and V addressed the crowd in Spanish, thanking fans for their support and sharing their excitement for the group’s sold‑out Arirang World Tour concerts in the city.

The gathering underscores BTS’s deep cultural footprint in Mexico, where their popularity has repeatedly exceeded venue capacity. In previous years, the overwhelming demand for BTS concerts led Sheinbaum—then serving as Head of Government of Mexico City—to publicly request additional dates from South Korean organizers to accommodate fans. Mexico has also been one of BTS’s most active streaming and fan‑engagement regions in Latin America, consistently ranking among the group’s top global markets.

The 2026 balcony appearance now stands as one of the most visible examples of BTS’s influence intersecting with national cultural life in Mexico, marking a rare moment where a global pop act was formally welcomed at the country’s most symbolic seat of government.
