Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
Sani defeated former Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani and another aspirant, Shettima, during the APC senatorial primary held on Monday.
Announcing the results, Returning Officer Sameera Ibrahim disclosed that Sani secured 9,105 votes to clinch the APC ticket for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
According to the results announced, Zailani polled 1,021 votes, while Shettima recorded 1,253 votes.
Ibrahim described the primary election as peaceful, transparent, and well organised, praising party delegates and officials for maintaining order throughout the exercise.
Sani’s victory is being viewed as a major political comeback, having previously represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.
He is also widely recognised for his activism and outspoken positions on governance, democracy, and social justice issues.
