 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MINOR; HIS NEPHEW'S DAUGHTER IN BAUCHI


The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man for the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor in Guru Village, Bauchi.


According to a report received at ‘B’ Division, GRA, Bauchi, on 15th May 2026 at about 1700 hours, the incident occurred on 14th May 2026 at approximately 0100 hours. The complainant, a 45-year-old father, reported that his nephew, Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, allegedly lured his 14-year-old daughter outside their residence and sexually assaulted her.


Upon receipt of the report, police operatives promptly responded, arrested the suspect, and secured the victim for immediate medical attention at the Police Clinic.


The suspect has been investigated and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet and thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.


The Bauchi State Police Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on crimes against minors and women. The Command assures the public that the matter will be handled with the utmost professionalism, sensitivity, and in accordance with the law.


Members of the public were encouraged by CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+)  to continue reporting any form of abuse or criminal activity to the nearest police station.
