Peter Obi’s new lies Peter Obi’s recent claims of being targeted by the government—citing an incident involving his car at the airport, which, by his own account, must have resulted from flouting parking regulations—are simply unfounded and misleading.  As a pathological and serial liar, Mr Obi is intent on dragging the government into every personal inconvenience he encounters, often resorting to exaggeration and baseless allegations. His claim that he may not be alive for the January 2027 election and that people are being pressured not to invite him to social events is nothing more than a fabricated narrative, a page from his book of lies and propaganda.  These claims lack substance and are designed to attract undue sympathy and deflect attention from his credibility deficit and the problems faced by his SPV and his adopted political association, the NDC. It is important to note that Mr Obi has a substantial interest in Fidelity Bank. The institution continues to thri...

SUSPECTED SERIAL KILLER ARRESTED IN CREEKTOWN FOREST, CONFESSES TO KILLING 30 PERSONS. (PHOTOS).

Suspected Serial Killer Arrested in Creektown Forest, Confesses to Killing 30 Persons

A suspected serial killer arrested in a forest in Creektown, Cross River State, has allegedly confessed to the murder of at least 30 people, according to security sources.

The suspect, identified simply as Akaninyene from Obot Akara, was apprehended by military personnel and tactical police operatives following a tip-off that led security agents to an isolated hut he reportedly built in the Abanyama, Ukim Ita Community area of Creektown.

Community youths and elders were said to have assisted security operatives during the operation.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Vanguard on Friday that the operation lasted for two days before the suspect was finally apprehended inside the forest hideout.

According to the source, operatives found Akaninyene within the compound upon arrival. He reportedly attempted to arm himself and flee deeper into the forest but was overpowered and arrested.

Security sources disclosed that a search of the compound led to the discovery of multiple shallow graves within the area.

About eight burial pits were reportedly exhumed, with each containing several decomposing bodies allegedly buried without heads. Plantain crops had reportedly been planted over the graves in an apparent attempt to conceal them.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing about 30 persons who had previously been declared missing within the community.

Sources further revealed that Akaninyene admitted that the most recent killing, which reportedly triggered investigations leading to his arrest, occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

He also allegedly implicated a woman, claiming she assisted in luring victims to the forest hideout and restraining them during the attacks.

“The suspect confessed to the murders and led operatives to the graves,” a security source said. “He claimed a lady assisted him by luring victims into their den and restraining them during the attacks.”

The alarm was reportedly raised after residents heard cries and sounds of struggle believed to have come from the suspect’s hideout during the latest incident.

Following the development, the councillor representing Creektown Ward 1, Hon. Ene Itam, alongside the ward chairman, community youths and elders, reportedly informed the Executive Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Elder Chief Ukpong Etim Asido, who subsequently alerted security agencies.

The Leader of the 8th Legislative Assembly in Odukpani LGA, Hon. Effiom Ekene, and Hon. Emmanuel of Adibo Efut Ward were also said to have joined efforts that led to the arrest.

Community leaders commended the swift intervention of military and police tactical teams and praised local youths for their vigilance.

Residents have since intensified bush-combing operations in search of possible additional hideouts and other victims.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said investigations were ongoing.

“The incident is true and under active investigation. Further revelations will be made public as the probe progresses,” he stated.
