THE INFORMATION CURRENTLY BEING CIRCULATED BY “FOR THE LOVE OF ANAMBRA” CONCERNING THE INCIDENT AT TANSIAN UNIVERSITY OBA CAMPUS IS GROSSLY FALSE, MISLEADING- REV. FR. PETER UCHE ONUOHA. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE.

FALSE NEWS MUST STOP: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE INCIDENT AT TANSIAN UNIVERSITY OBA CAMPUS

The information currently being circulated by “For the Love of Anambra” concerning the incident at Tansian University Oba Campus is grossly false, misleading, sensational, and completely divorced from what truly transpired. Authentic journalism demands verification, balance, and truth not the reckless dissemination of fabricated narratives designed to misinform the public and inflame emotions.

For the sake of truth and justice, the real sequence of events must be clearly stated.

Unknown armed men, allegedly claiming to be DSS operatives from Awka, first arrived at the premises of Tansian University Oba Campus with the intention of attacking some of the proprietors of the school namely Rev. Valentine, Bro. Hector, Bro. Paulde Silas Inuen etc. These men demanded that the university security personnel break open the doors of certain proprietors’ (named above) residences so they could execute their operation. The university security personnel courageously refused and insisted that if the armed men truly represented a lawful government agency, they should personally carry out such actions themselves rather than compel innocent security staff to do so. Following this resistance, the armed men looked at themselves and temporarily withdrew from the premises.

Subsequently, some of the proprietors named above immediately proceeded to report the incident to the Nigerian Police.

Hours later, Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiora SAN of Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Justin Egbe of the Congregation of St. Dunstan, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Anetoh of Awka Diocese, one Innocent Ukeh, and another individual identified as Kappa (or Cappa) allegedly returned to the school premises accompanied by unauthorized armed men. These individuals reportedly began forcefully breaking doors and removing door protectors from some of the residences within the campus.

Upon the return of the proprietors who had gone to make an official police report they encountered these unauthorized armed individuals allegedly vandalizing their residences. Alarmed by the development, they alerted the leadership of Oba security. Consequently, members of the local security outfit known as Udo Ga Achi swiftly mobilized to the university premises.

In the ensuing chaos and confusion, the Udo Ga Achi security operatives apprehended some of the armed men and physically assaulted them in response to their unauthorized action. During the confrontation, Rev. Fr. Justin Egbe was beaten and his clothes were torn.

Furthermore, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Anetoh, in an attempt to escape the violent situation, reportedly ran into the female students’ hostel for safety. However, because many students were already aware of the lingering tensions surrounding the removal of the former Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiora SAN for gross administrative misconduct and misrepresentation, the students forced Fr. Bonaventure Anetoh out of the hostel, during which his clothes were torn in the process.

At no point was Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Anetoh caught engaging in any immoral act, nor was he caught having sexual relations with anyone as falsely claimed in the fabricated reports currently being circulated online.

It is therefore deeply irresponsible and unethical for any media platform to manufacture scandalous narratives without proper investigation. Falsehood masquerading as journalism is dangerous to society and destructive to reputations.

“For the Love of Anambra” and every platform involved in spreading these false reports are hereby strongly advised to verify facts before publication. Sensationalism is not journalism. Reckless misinformation is not advocacy. Defamation disguised as breaking news remains defamation.

The public deserves truth, not propaganda. The people deserve facts, not fabricated alarms.
