President Donald Trump says he is uncertain whether he will attend Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding this weekend, citing ongoing foreign policy concerns and a packed schedule.
Speaking from the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said the timing of the Saturday ceremony in the Bahamas is difficult given current international issues, including tensions involving Iran. He told reporters his son would like him to attend but described the event as a “small private affair” and said he is still trying to make it.
Trump also acknowledged the political scrutiny surrounding either decision. He said he would face criticism whether he attends or not, adding that he hoped the couple would have a “great marriage.”
According to a Federal Aviation Administration notice, the president is expected to spend the holiday weekend at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, further casting uncertainty on his travel plans for the wedding.
Donald Trump Jr. is set to marry Bettina Anderson, a model, socialite, and influencer from a prominent Palm Beach family. The couple began publicly appearing together in 2024 following Trump Jr.’s split from former Fox News host and U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle. Their engagement was announced at the White House in late 2025.
Anderson has worked in modeling and media, appearing in regional publications including Palm Beach Illustrated. She previously described the engagement as a deeply meaningful moment, saying she felt fortunate to be marrying the love of her life.
The wedding had reportedly been considered for a White House venue at one point, but the couple opted for a more private setting amid concerns about public perception during global conflicts.
Trump Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump, with whom he shares five children. His former wife recently revealed she is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
