 Jordan Henderson Set to Miss World Cup After Wrist Injury in England Celebrations England’s 3-2 win over Mexico in the World Cup Round of 16 was followed by an injury to Jordan Henderson, who is now expected to miss the remainder of the tournament. The Brentford midfielder was part of the England squad that secured victory at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium on Sunday, July 5, before the team joined supporters behind one of the goals to sing Oasis’ Wonderwall, which has become an unofficial anthem during the competition. During the post-match celebrations, Henderson fell over an advertising board, landed awkwardly and was left on the ground receiving medical attention. Teammates and staff quickly surrounded him as treatment was provided on the pitch. He was later given oxygen and taken off on a stretcher. England head coach Thomas Tuchel told the BBC that the 36-year-old had sustained “a quite serious” wrist injury and was taken to hospital for assessment. Henderson remained in Mexico...

ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND TO ARRAIGN FIVE SUSPECTS, INCLUDING A FATHER ALLEGEDLY HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH HIS DAUGHTER AND OTHER CASES OF SEXUAL AND CHILD ABUSE OFFENCES IN AWKA


Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has concluded investigations into several serious cases of sexual and child abuse-related offences, including that of a father who has been having an affair with his daughter and inflicted her with a serious viral disease. The five suspects will be arraigned today 6th May 2026 before the Special Court sitting in Awka. Below are the details of the case.


The Gender unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department on 22nd April 2026, received a case of defilement of a 16-year old girl from  Ogbunike Police Division Headquarters. 


Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect Chukwuemeka Chidiebere, male, aged 26 years, a security personnel at the estate in the area, allegedly attacked the victim while she was on her way to visit a friend within the estate. He was said to have dragged her into an uncompleted building within the estate where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. Meanwhile, the suspect has made a confessional statement. 


Also, the Operatives received on 23rd April 2026, a case of defilement of 11 years old girl, transferred from Neni Police Divisional Headquaters. The male suspect, Uchenna Muojama, aged 36 years, allegedly lured the victim inside his Barbing saloon where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. The Operatives have further obtained a medical report for the court proceedings.


In a similar development, on 21st April 2025 a case of Defilement was transferred from Central Police Station Awka,  where a 52-year old male suspect, Chukwudi Nwayata took advantage of the mental situation of an 11-year old girl, lured her to his house and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim.


Furthermore, on the same on 23rd April 2026, a case of incest involving a 20-year-old victim was transferred from Oko Police Station. The suspect, Rapuruchukwu Ezenandu, male, aged 46 years, allegedly engaged in sexual relations with the victim since she was 17 years old. The case came to light after the victim tested HIV positive during a hospital visit. The suspect has made a confessional statement.


In another development, on 28th April 2026 a female suspect by name Eucharia Ezenwanne, allegedly subjected two children Echetuna Ezenwanne (6 years) and Chikaima Ezenwanne (4 years) to severe physical abuse, reportedly using a wire to inflict injuries. The suspect claimed to have adopted the children from a motherless babies' home in Onitsha.


To this end the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD describing the case as heinous and unacceptable, reiterates the Command’s Commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, especially children, and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
