Two young North Carolina children who were still grieving the loss of their father, who passed away in December, have now lost their mother in a violent and heartbreaking incident.
Brandi Reynolds, just 35-years-old, was nearing the end of her shift on Friday, June 26th. Brandi was undoubtedly looking forward to a weekend with her two children as the recently smaller family was healing from the loss of Brandi's husband, and the children's father.
Sadly, that family time will never happen, and those children are going to have to face a future without parents after a dangerous felon with a history of violence and kidnapping, senselessly ended the life of Brandi Reynolds.
Details surrounding this case are scant at this point in the investigation. However, those close to Brandi say that William Durham, 56, had made his menacing presence known in the weeks leading up to this horrific crime. According to family, William had stalked Brandi and had even recently broken into her home!
Whether his odd and threatening behavior leading up to that fateful Friday had been reported to authorities by Brandi, has not been released yet.
What we do know is that the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence on Montieth Acres at 4:16 p.m. on Friday, June 26th. Upon arrival, they discovered Brandi deceased from gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses reported that Brandi was forced from her USPS vehicle by an armed William Durham. She was thrown into William Durham's vehicle and restrained.
Investigators have said that early calls had reported a man in a Nissan Altima firing a shot with a handgun and threatening a woman. However, the exact circumstances surrounding Brandi's passing have not been released.
Authorities have confirmed that William Durham has confessed to taking Brandi's young life.
It breaks my heart to think of the terrifying last moments of this devoted mother's life. Threatened with a weapon, kidnapped, restrained in your stalker's vehicle, just praying you somehow make it home to your children.
William Durham made his first court appearance today, Monday, June 29th. He was officially charged with kidnapping and m*rder. In the arresting warrant, it is stated that he had removed the victim from one place to another without her consent.
Prosecutors also detailed William Durham's extensive and violent criminal history. This history includes @ssault, multiple kidnapping charges, intimidating witness charges, and firearm violations.
Despite family revealing Brandi's previous problems with William, law enforcement have not released any information regarding any type of connection between the victim and suspect. There is also no clear motive announced at this time.
Our thoughts are with Brandi's family and everyone whose life she had touched. She was well known and well liked in the Hays, North Carolina community. She was not only known for being punctual but she also was known for checking on the sick and the elderly during her route.
