 Former Kennedy Center employees allege leadership delayed roof repairs before citing safety issues in closure decision Former Kennedy Center employees allege that the venue’s leadership knew about serious structural problems well before citing newly discovered hazards as the reason for its abrupt closure this month. The claims were outlined in a letter to Congress from a lawyer representing anonymous whistleblowers. The letter accuses the center’s executive director and chief operating officer, Matt Floca, of failing to prioritize roof repairs and stopping a funded repair plan in April. Floca disputes the allegations, saying recent inspections revealed that water damage had spread farther into the building than officials previously knew. In a September court declaration, Floca cited “acute risks to public safety” following an inspection that found deterioration in a roof terrace canopy and a partial ceiling collapse. S. A: A WELL-KNOWN TRADITIONAL HEALER, DANIEL MASINGA, HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS DIRECT IMPRISONMENT BY THE BURGERSFORT REGIONAL COURT FOR RAPE.(PHOTO).

 A well-known traditional healer, Daniel Masinga (49), has been sentenced to eight years direct imprisonment by the Burgersfort Regional Court for rape.


The court heard that the 38-year-old victim visited the accused at his residence in Mooihoek, Mashemong, in June 2020 after he allegedly called her under the pretext of providing traditional medication.


After consuming a concoction given to her by the accused, the victim reportedly became dizzy and disoriented. She later regained consciousness and discovered that she was being sexually assaulted. The accused allegedly threatened her with a firearm and continued assaulting her throughout the night.


The matter was reported to police and investigated by the Burgersfort FCS Unit. The accused later absconded after being released on bail but was re-arrested in December 2025.


Apart from the eight-year prison sentence, the court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
