Military judge suppresses Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s FBI confession in 9/11 case A military judge has excluded a confession that alleged Sept. 11 attacks mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave to FBI agents nearly 20 years ago, ruling that the statements were not made voluntarily. The decision is a setback for the U.S. government's long-running effort to prosecute Mohammed, who is accused of helping develop the plot to hijack planes and crash them into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Mohammed remains detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, alongside other defendants awaiting trial. Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, the judge overseeing the case, scheduled a June 2028 trial for Mohammed and three other defendants earlier this week.  Barack and Michelle Obama share first date memory while promoting presidential center

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama have shared a lighthearted dating suggestion while highlighting the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.

In a video posted on Instagram on Monday, June 29, Michelle recalled that she and Barack visited a museum on their first date and suggested the presidential center offers a similar setting for couples.

"Barack and I went to a museum on our first date," Michelle wrote alongside the video. "So take it from us, the Obama Presidential Center campus has just the right vibe for you and your boo."

During the video, Michelle said the campus would have made an ideal location for one of their early dates.

"This would've been like, 'Oh, this dude is cool,'" she said, as Barack laughed.

She described the campus as "a date vibe" and noted that its artwork, including installations by Nick Cave and Marie Watt, as well as works by Mark Bradford, adds to the experience.

Michelle also pointed to the seating areas around the campus, saying they provide an opportunity for conversation.

"There are those comfy sofas after you've had a date, and then you put your arm around your date, and then we talk about life, and it gives you a chance to see if your date knows anything about the world," she said.

Barack smiled and agreed as Michelle shared her thoughts.

The Obama Presidential Center opened to the public on Juneteenth. The 19.3 acre campus on Chicago's South Side includes public parks, event spaces, a city library and a museum.
