 NAF COMPLETES LOCAL REASSEMBLY OF FIRST TWO H125 HELICOPTERS IN LAGOS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos, following their delivery by Airbus. Conducted with the support of Airbus technical personnel, the exercise marks an important milestone in strengthening technical collaboration, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing NAF personnel’s practical exposure to the support and maintenance of modern rotary-wing platforms. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the NAF’s technical and operational capacity. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday, 18 June 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, CFR, at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State. The visit highlights the commitment of the Nigerian Army to deepening collaboration with traditional institutions as critical stakeholders in promoting national security, community resilience and intelligence-driven operations.


The engagement provided an opportunity for the COAS to appreciate the Emirate’s sustained support to military operations and to reinforce the importance of civil-military cooperation in addressing contemporary security challenges. The visit further reflects the Nigerian Army’s recognition of the vital role of traditional rulers in fostering unity, strengthening community trust and mobilising collective action against terrorism, banditry and other emerging threats to national peace and stability.
