A new court filing reveals that the partner of the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk was granted limited immunity in exchange for a statement provided to prosecutors.
Tyler Robinson’s partner, Lance Twiggs, who has been described as both his roommate and romantic partner, spoke with investigators after Robinson surrendered to authorities, according to the filing.
Investigators say Twiggs told them that Robinson had allegedly sent electronic messages admitting responsibility for Kirk’s killing. Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a campus event in Utah, and Robinson later turned himself in at the urging of family members.
According to court documents, Twiggs initially provided information to investigators describing Robinson’s alleged admissions and later gave a recorded statement under oath on April 20, 2026, reiterating those claims.
The filing states that Twiggs was warned that false statements could result in obstruction of justice charges. Prosecutors then granted him limited-use immunity, meaning his statements cannot be used against him in court.
Officials say the agreement was made by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Utah County Attorney’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation.
