 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  Court grants Omoyele Sowore ₦200m bail In alleged cybercrime case


Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted a ₦200 million bail to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, who is facing alleged cybercrime charges.


In a ruling on Tuesday, Justice Umar ordered Sowore to produce two sureties. One of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the other must own landed property in Abuja. The court also directed that the sureties be verified by the prosecution.


In addition, Justice Umar ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court pending the determination of the case. The judge thereafter released the defendant to his lawyers and adjourned the case until Monday, July 6, for the opening of Sowore’s defence.
