 RIVERS POLICE COMMAND REACTS TO VIRAL VIDEO ON THE ALLEGED SHOOTING BY A POLICE OFFICER. The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a video circulating on social media on a shooting incident in which a police officer allegedly shot at a motorist while on wheels, resulting in the death of the occupant. Preliminary information indicates that on 27th August 2026, there was an altercation between the occupant, one Anthony Obodo (m) and there was a scuffle between the duo which led to gunshot and subsequently led to the death of the victim, in which two other passersby where injured.   Following the incident, the alleged officer CPL Alfred Louis was attacked and assaulted by an angry mob, leading to him sustaining multiple injuries in the process.  The Catholic Diocese of Enugu issues a statement regarding a circulating media announcement about a "Historic Endorsement Rally and Adoption Ceremony" in support of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Barrister Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, at Jubilee Hall, Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.

DISCLAIMER ON THE PROPOSED POLITICAL ENDORSEMENT RALLYAT JUBILEE HALL, HOLY GHOST CATHEDRAL, ENUGU

 The Catholic Diocese of Enugu clarifies a media announcement currently circulating regarding a Historic Endorsement Rally and Adoption Ceremony" in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, scheduled to hold on Friday, 3rd July 2026, at Jubilee Hall, Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu. Since the event is intended to serve as a political endorsement gathering, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu wishes to state that it does not permit the use of its churches, parish halls, or other ecclesiastical facilities for partisan political rallies, endorsements, or similar activities. Consequently, the use of Jubilee Hall, Holy Ghost Cathedral, for the said political event does not reflect the policy or position of the Diocese and therefore will not hold at the said venue. The Diocese regrets any misunderstanding that the announcement may have created.
