 Trump threatens Iran with major strikes and warns of potential control of oil infrastructure as regional conflict escalates  President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States would strike Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT,” escalating already heightened tensions as both sides continue exchanging attacks across the region. In a social media post, Trump also threatened to “assume total control” of Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure, including the key Kharg Island export terminal, describing potential action “in the not too distant future.” The warning came as U.S. and Iranian forces traded fire for a second straight day, marking the third major escalation in less than a week following earlier clashes involving Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces stationed across multiple countries.  FG DECLARES FRIDAY JUNE, 12 PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR DEMOCRACY DAY


The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 12, 2026 a public holiday to mark Democracy Day.


In a statement, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, says the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government. 

The Minister notes June 12 remains a significant date in Nigeria’s democratic journey and honours the sacrifices of those who fought for democratic governance.


Tunji-Ojo reaffirms the government’s commitment to the rule of law, transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.


He urges Nigerians to use the occasion for civic reflection, national unity, and renewed commitment to democratic values.
