 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  GOVERNOR DAUDA LAWAL APPROVES PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCES TO NYSC MEMBERS SERVING IN ZAMFARA STATE


Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved payment of allowances/stipends to National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members serving in the state.


This is contained in statement by Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, Commissioner of Information and Culture who notes the approval reflects the administration's commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of corps members contributing to development across the state.


The approval covers corps members from Batch A Stream I and II to Batch C Stream I and II.


The state government said the gesture is in recognition of the patriotism, dedication and selfless service of the young graduates in education, healthcare, agriculture and other key sectors of the state's economy.


Governor Lawal has also directed the Office of the Accountant General to make all necessary arrangements for the implementation of the approval.
