 Hungarian police arrest hospital orderly accused of collecting and consuming human body parts

  

 Authorities in Hungary have arrested a 30-year-old hospital orderly following an investigation into the illegal collection and consumption of human remains. Hungary’s National Bureau of Investigation apprehended the suspect in Budapest on June 17 after receiving intelligence that human body parts were being stored at both his residence and his workplace.

A subsequent search of the suspect's apartment uncovered a grim collection of remains, including multiple skulls, an entire lower leg, a human hand, and various bones packed inside a suitcase. Investigators also discovered a preservation jar containing a heart, which is currently undergoing testing to determine if it is of human or animal origin, alongside a reconstructed human face crafted from facial skin.

During police interrogation, the suspect confessed to the actions, admitting a profound fixation on human anatomy and pathology. He further disclosed to investigators that he had prepared and consumed food made from the harvested body parts. Law enforcement officials noted that the man also possessed a history of dissecting animals.

Investigators believe the suspect amassed the remains through his employment at the hospital and by raiding graves within abandoned cemeteries located across Slovakia and Hungary. He is currently being detained on charges relating to the illegal use of human bodies. Digital devices, including computers, laptops, tablets, and phones, were seized from the property, and the charges may be expanded as forensic experts work to identify the origins of the recovered remains.
