KENNETH OKONKWO ALLEGES NDC IS CONTROLLED BY TINUBU, SAYS OBI HAS BEEN TRAPPED. (PHOTO).
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is aligned with President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okonkwo made the claim during an interview while responding to questions on the emergence of the NDC and its relationship with opposition figures.
According to him, the party was registered following a meeting between its national leader, Seriake Dickson, and President Tinubu. He further alleged that the NDC was created to attract Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi into its fold.
The former spokesperson for Obi's presidential campaign claimed that the NDC was not initially qualified for registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and only secured recognition through a court order.
“NDC is Tinubu and the APC political party. It’s now that Peter Obi is even more trapped,” Okonkwo said.
He added, “They were not to be registered until I heard from Obidients that there was a meeting between Dickson and Tinubu, and then they registered NDC.
“After the registration, INEC said they were not qualified to be registered, and they went to court. That’s how it came, by court order.”
Okonkwo further alleged that Obi had been lured into a political trap through his association with the party, arguing that the NDC was specifically registered to attract the former Anambra State governor.
He also accused former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, of not being sincere in his dealings with Obi, although he did not provide further details to support the allegation.
