Lions CB Terrion Arnold arrested on kidnapping, armed robbery charges over alleged retaliatory attack

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is in custody in Florida awaiting a court hearing after authorities accused him of orchestrating a retaliatory kidnapping and robbery tied to a dispute over stolen property.

Police say Arnold believed individuals had taken more than $250,000 worth of items from him and others during a February theft at an Airbnb in Largo, Florida. Three days later, investigators say three men in their late teens were lured to a Tampa apartment, where they were held at gunpoint, beaten, pistol-whipped, and robbed.

Authorities allege Arnold acted as the “primary conspirator” in the attack, directing others through a group chat and later arriving at the scene. Police said the victims were not involved in the original theft and were mistakenly targeted.

Arnold surrendered to authorities on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County court on Thursday. He faces charges including kidnapping and armed robbery, with prosecutors expected to formally file charges within 21 days.

Tampa police officials said the case shows that public status does not shield anyone from prosecution. Investigators described a coordinated attack involving multiple suspects, some of whom have already pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with authorities. One defendant has been sentenced to four years in prison.

According to investigators, Arnold’s associates lured the victims to an apartment where they were assaulted while the incident was allegedly streamed back to Arnold. Officials say at least seven people are facing charges connected to the case.

Arnold’s representatives deny the allegations, saying there is no credible evidence linking him to the crimes and arguing that cooperating witnesses are motivated to shift blame in exchange for reduced sentences.

State prosecutors said the allegations, if proven, reflect an unlawful attempt at vigilante justice, noting that disputes over stolen property do not justify violence or retaliation.

Arnold, a first-round draft pick out of Alabama in 2024, recorded 31 tackles and an interception in his rookie season with the Lions. The team said it is aware of his arrest but declined further comment.
