Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Merlin star Anthony Head dies at 72 


British actor Anthony Head, known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ted Lasso, Merlin and Little Britain, has died at the age of 72.


His family confirmed to newsmen that he died of complications from pneumonia, surrounded by relatives.


Head rose to international fame for his role as Rupert Giles in the supernatural teen drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the late 1990s.


He later appeared in several popular productions, including the sketch comedy Little Britain, where he had a recurring role, and the BBC fantasy series Merlin, where he played King Uther Pendragon.


He also featured in Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso as former football club owner Rupert Mannion.


In a statement, his daughters Emily and Daisy said, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father.”


They added that he died peacefully and described it as an honour to have been his daughters.


“It has been, and forever will be, an honour and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many,” they added.


They noted that he would be missed by friends, colleagues and fans, adding that he “loved his job very much” and always considered himself lucky.


Head’s career also included roles in The Iron Lady, Doctor Who, The Inbetweeners, Persuasion and Manchild.
