 Flights suspended to Ethiopian holy town of Lalibela as fighting expands Flights to the historic Ethiopian town of Lalibela ​were suspended on Thursday due to fighting nearby, seven sources said, as residents in the Tigray region to the north stocked up on food and ‌cash, fearing that renewed fighting could trigger another major war. Tigrayan forces seized three local airports and launched attacks in Afar and Amhara regions with allies there this week, in the most serious escalation since a devastating 2020-22 war against Ethiopian government troops. In its first public comments on the fighting, Ethiopia's army said on Thursday that it had foiled the attacks and killed, wounded or captured more than 500 enemy fighters. The United Nations ​and the European Union called for restraint and a return to the African Union-brokered peace process that had ended a conflict that killed hundreds of thousands of people.  Missing Minnesota woman found alive after days stuck in muddy puddle, rescuers say

A 68-year-old Minnesota woman who had been reported missing was found alive after spending days trapped in a muddy puddle, according to rescuers.

Kathryn Woessner was last seen on June 3 and was discovered on June 6. Authorities said she had no personal belongings with her when she was located.

According to the men who found her, Woessner said her car had become stuck, and she was attempting to get free when she slipped while moving around the vehicle and fell into a mud-filled area roughly two feet deep. She described the mud as feeling like quicksand.

Rescuers said she told them she had been stuck on her back for several days and had suffered significant sun exposure, including a serious sunburn on her face.

Due to underlying medical conditions, she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
