 EFCC Arraigns One for  N700m Fraud in Lagos  The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, September 4, 2026, arraigned Osaretin Osagiede before Justice Olukayode Ogunjobi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja,  over an alleged N700 million fraud. Osagiede is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on unauthorised access to computer material and receiving stolen property to the tune of N700 million.  Count one reads: “That you Osaretin Osagiede and Zacharia Lorshe (at large), between March, 2025 and January 2026, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, intentionally caused the Ravenpay user accounts' two-factor authentication (2FA) method to be bypassed, with the intent to secure unauthorised access to the bank's data and committed an offence contrary to Section 387 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.  NIGERIA SIGNS RECOMMITMENT TO UN CHARTER IN NEW YORK


Ahead of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Nigeria has signed a recommitment to the United Nations Charter and the UN80 Reform agenda.


Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, signed the recommitment on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, stating that Nigeria remains firmly dedicated to global peace.


Ambassador Ibrahim, who also chairs the Budget, Appropriations and Administration Committee of the UN, said the move reflects Nigeria’s confidence in the future of the United Nations and International cooperation.


In a related engagement, Nigeria’s envoy received United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed at the Nigeria Mission House, where she was briefed on Nigeria’s strategic direction within the United Nations system.


The meeting also reinforced the mission’s commitment to working closely with UN leadership to implement a 90-day strategic agenda that will strengthen Nigeria's voice in global affairs.
