The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  Nollywood Actress and Abia Governorship Aspirant Doris Ogala Hospitalised After Collapse

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, on Friday after she lost consciousness.

According to reports and a video circulating on social media, Ogala collapsed during a consultation earlier that day. She was stabilised at the facility and later took to her Instagram page to provide an update on her condition.

“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now,” she wrote, alongside a video showing her at the health centre.

While receiving treatment, Ogala was seen in a wheelchair interacting with patients and staff at the hospital. Video footage captured her engaging with patients and praying with them. Ogala is seeking to unseat the incumbent Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 gubernatorial election, with her campaign emphasising people-centred governance, economic growth, and job creation.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users commended her for showing solidarity with patients during her hospital stay, many others expressed scepticism, viewing the event as a possible publicity stunt linked to her political ambitions. Critics, citing her background as a Nollywood actress, described the episode with terms like “acting” and “drama.”

Others questioned her current health status and suitability for the demanding role of governor, urging her to focus on full recovery before pursuing higher office.
