Nollywood Legend Francis Duru Breaks Silence on Terminal Illness Rumors: 'I Have Never Been That Sick'

Veteran Nollywood star Francis Duru has officially broken his silence regarding viral speculations about his well-being. The beloved actor took to social media to firmly debunk reports claiming he is battling a life-threatening, terminal illness.

The rumors gained massive traction online after a video surfaced showing the actor looking noticeably frail, sparking widespread panic and concern among his colleagues, friends, and dedicated fanbase. In response to the growing anxiety, Duru released a video message on his Instagram page to set the record straight.

Francis Duru Slams 'Merchants of Darkness' Over Fake Health News

Addressing his fans directly, the veteran actor expressed gratitude for their prayers but blasted those responsible for spreading the malicious rumors. He described the creators of the viral video as 'merchants of darkness' who thrive on manufacturing negativity solely for internet traffic.

'My dear fans, greetings to you all. Thank you for always being there with your prayers and wishes,' Duru said in the video. 'I am making this video regarding a very wicked clip circulating around about me being sick to that level... I have never been that sick and will never be that sick. By God's grace, I will keep getting stronger.'

He urged his followers to ignore the fabricated reports, stating that the purveyors of the video simply 'don't want to see people rise' and are motivated strictly by clicks and views.

Lingering Concerns as Fans Notice Visible Weight Loss

While his disclaimer was meant to reassure the public, it seemingly had the opposite effect on some followers. Many fans flooded the comment section expressing concern over his physical transformation, noting his sudden weight loss and soft-spoken demeanor.

• 'You are looking so slim and sounding weak,' one fan commented, offering prayers of divine healing.

• Another follower wrote, 'But you look sick, or is it just me? I pray God gives you healing in any area you need it.'

• A third well-wisher chimed in, encouraging him to stay strong through whatever challenges he may be facing behind the scenes.

Though Duru did not explicitly detail the cause of his physical change, it is worth noting that the actor has faced an incredibly difficult year, having recently mourned the tragic loss of his 15-year-old son. Grief and stress can take an immense toll on anyone's physical health, and fans are continuing to shower the Nollywood icon with love, strength, and support during this time.
