Queen Camilla's rare confession about private duties with 10 grandkids

Away from the public spotlight, Queen Camilla embraces her role as grandmother to ten grandchildren, balancing her royal duties with family life. She shares two children, Tom and Laura, with her former husband Andrew Parker-Bowles, and together they have five grandchildren: Lola, Freddy, Eliza, Louis, and Gus.

Through her marriage to King Charles, she also has five step-grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.

Despite her preference for keeping her private life separate, Camilla recently opened up about her passion for reading and her desire to pass that love down to future generations.

During a visit to St Mungo’s in South East London, Camilla spoke about the importance of introducing children to books early, sharing how she reads to her youngest granddaughter.

The Queen’s Reading Room, her charity, has partnered with St Mungo’s to provide books and training programs that encourage reading among people recovering from homelessness. Staff and volunteers have reported that the initiative has had a transformative impact, boosting confidence and wellbeing.

Camilla emphasized that reading is “the greatest gift in the world,” a sentiment echoed by broadcaster Lorraine Kelly during their conversation at the event.

Camilla’s devotion to storytelling extends to her own family, where her grandchildren affectionately call her “Gaga.” She has described how reading together has helped them bond, with the children now becoming avid bookworms.

Bedtime stories, often shared with King Charles whom she praises as a gifted mimic have left the grandchildren spellbound, especially when reading favorites like Harry Potter.

Even when apart, Camilla stays connected through texts and calls, highlighting the mutual exchange of learning between generations. Her commitment to reading, both privately and publicly, reflects her belief in its power to inspire joy, confidence, and connection.
