 Atiku pledges scholarship to viral Niger teen miner Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Sunday said his “heart breaks” each time he watches a viral video of a teenage artisanal miner, Yusuf Aliyu, speaking at a mining site in Niger State after the deaths of 37 miners in the state. Atiku, in a statement posted on his X handle, said he was prepared to support the boy’s education, describing him as a child whose intelligence and confidence should be nurtured in a classroom rather than by working at a mining site. “I have watched Yusuf Aliyu’s video repeatedly, and each time, my heart breaks. A child with such intelligence, clarity and confidence should be in a classroom building his future—not struggling for survival in a community surrounded by gold but buried in poverty. “I cannot look at him and see an ‘illegal miner.’ I see a Nigerian child failed by the country that should have protected him. I see brilliance trapped by poverty and enormous promise abandoned by leadership,” ...

Sia was recently spotted embracing a low-key look during a rare public outing with her young son in Los Angeles.


The singer, known for hiding much of her face behind oversized wigs throughout her career, appeared makeup-free as she visited a local farmers market with her two-year-old son, Somersault Wonder.


Dressed casually, Sia wore a pink baseball cap and a loose-fitting trench coat while browsing fresh produce and enjoying a quiet day out with her child on June 7.


The outing offered fans an uncommon glimpse of the famously private artist, who has spent years keeping her personal life away from the spotlight.


Many were surprised last year when news emerged that Sia had quietly welcomed Somersault during her marriage to former husband Daniel Bernard. The revelation came as part of divorce proceedings that also brought details of their family life into public view.


The couple married in Italy in December 2023 but separated just over two years later. Court documents listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.


Their separation has also involved a custody dispute over their son. Daniel reportedly sought sole custody, arguing that he was the child's most dependable caregiver.


According to court filings cited by media reports, he made several allegations regarding Sia's parenting abilities and personal struggles. 


However, a judge declined the request for sole custody and directed both parties to continue under their existing custody arrangement.


Beyond raising Somersault, Sia is also a mother to two sons she adopted in 2019 after they were nearing the end of their time in the foster care system.
