Al-Mustapha Dismisses Ex-DSS Operative’s Claims on Abacha’s Death Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998. Rejecting the claims, Al-Mustapha alleged that the account was fabricated and did not reflect what transpired. “The boy was asked by others to write those lies.  Spain World Cup Opener: Why Lamine Yamal Starts on the Bench Against Cape Verde

Spain begins its quest for a second FIFA World Cup title with a massive talking point: teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has been left out of the starting lineup for their Group H opener against Cape Verde. Head coach Luis de la Fuente has opted for a cautious approach with the Barcelona winger, who is recovering from a hamstring injury.

De la Fuente Explains Cautious Approach for Yamal

The 18-year-old superstar suffered a left hamstring tear during Barcelona's La Liga clash against Celta Vigo in April, forcing him to miss the final stretch of the club season. While an intensive rehabilitation program allowed him to join La Roja's World Cup squad in time, the coaching staff is refusing to rush him back into high-intensity action.

Speaking ahead of the opening match, De la Fuente reassured fans about the youngster's fitness but emphasized the need for patience. "The best news is that Lamine is in perfect condition, following the planned schedule," the manager stated. "He is doing very well and training strongly. He is available to play without any issues, but not for 90 minutes."

Yamal is not the only high-profile attacker starting on the bench. De la Fuente also confirmed that Nico Williams and Víctor Muñoz will begin the tournament as substitutes, keeping some of Spain's most explosive offensive weapons in reserve.

Spain's Confirmed Starting XI against Cape Verde

With Yamal and Williams on the bench, Spain has named a robust starting lineup to face the African nation. The starting eleven features:

• Goalkeeper: Unai Simón

• Defenders: Marcos Llorente, Pau Cubarsí, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Cucurella

• Midfielders: Rodri, Pedri, Fabián Ruiz

• Forwards: Gavi, Ferran Torres, Mikel Oyarzabal

The Long Road Ahead in Group H

Spain's clash with Cape Verde marks the beginning of their journey in a highly competitive Group H, which also includes Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. While Yamal will start on the bench, he is expected to be introduced during the match if the situation demands it.

La Roja's medical and coaching staff are playing the long game. With the tournament demanding peak physical condition over several weeks, easing their crown jewel back into the squad could prove to be a masterstroke as the knockout stages loom.
