 LAGOS CELEBRATES SOPHIA EKERUCHE: WORLD’S BEST YOUTH FEMALE SCRABBLE PLAYER The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) hosted Wizkid Scrabble player Sophia Ekeruche of Team Lagos, the 15-year-old crowned the world's best female Scrabble player at the just-concluded World Youth Scrabble Championship held in Kenya this past August. Hon. Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, received the young champion in his office at Teslim Balogun Stadium.  KATSINA STATE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES THE PASSING OF RETIRED MAJOR GENERAL RABE ABUBAKAR.


Katsina state government has announced the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who had been in bandits' captivity for several weeks.


A statement made available to newsmen by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu'azu, confirmed the development.


According to the statement, the retired General died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension.


It described his abduction and subsequent death as not only a loss to his family and Katsina state, but also a monumental loss to the nation.


The statement conveyed Governor Dikko Umaru Radda's deepest condolences to the family of the late General and Nigerians at large.


Governor Radda described the incident as a dark moment and a reminder of the urgent need for a collective and intensified effort against criminal elements threatening the peace and security of communities.


The Governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.


The statement also assured residents of the state's unwavering resolve to eradicate banditry and guarantee the safety of lives and property across Katsina State.
