 COURT SENTENCES TWO KIDNAPPERS IN EKITI STATE TO DEATH BY HANGING A high court of Ekiti state has convicted and sentenced the kidnappers, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar to death by hanging. Delivering the verdict, the Chief Judge of Ekiti state, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye who gave the order sentenced two convicts to death by hanging and discharged the third defendant, Usman Abubakar. The matter bordered on the abduction of Omoboade Adesina, a female National Youth Service Corps member in Ekiti state, on 22nd April, 2022.  Justice Lekan Ogunmoye commended the diligence of DSS prosecutors for proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.

UPDATE ON POLICE-LED JOINT SECURITY PATROL OPERATION THAT LED TO THE NEUTRALISATION OF FOUR SUSPECTED ARMED GANG MEMBERS AND RECOVERY OF GPMG, AK-47 RIFLES, IEDs, AND OTHER EXHIBITS IN ANAMBRA

The Anambra State Police Command provides further updates on the successful Police-led Joint Security Patrol operation coordinated by the Commander, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Aguata, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Austin Eligwe, which resulted in the neutralisation of four suspected armed secessionist gang members and the recovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road, Orumba South Local Government Area.


Following the operation, the Police have identified and established contact with the owner of the recovered white Toyota Sienna vehicle, which had earlier been reported stolen by the armed gang. The victim has since been debriefed, providing valuable information on the modus operandi of the criminal elements and the circumstances surrounding the theft of the vehicle.


The insights gathered from the victim are currently assisting the Command in reviewing and strengthening its operational strategies, personnel deployment, and security positioning within the area and adjoining communities. This is aimed at proactively disrupting any further criminal plans and enhancing public safety.


The Command, while commending the courage, resilience, and professionalism of the Joint Security Team, noted that no single security agency can take sole credit for the sustained safety and security currently being enjoyed in the State. It emphasized that the achievements recorded are products of effective inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and the continued support of Ndi Anambra.


The Command further reassures residents that ongoing intelligence-led operations are being sustained to identify, track, and apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal gang and their collaborators.


Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information to aid ongoing efforts at keeping Anambra State safe and secure.
