10 killed in Bahamas plane crash, including musicians and DJ

Ten people were killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas, including several musicians and a DJ, according to the Bahamas Musicians and Entertainers Union.

The crash occurred Friday in North Andros after the aircraft departed Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau on a flight to San Andros. Among those killed were members of The Pond Band and a DJ, whom the union remembered as talented performers whose contributions helped shape the country's cultural landscape.

In response to the crash, the Bahamian government temporarily suspended Flamingo Air's air operator certificate as a precaution while investigators determine the cause. Officials said the suspension follows two separate safety incidents involving the airline on Friday.

Earlier that day, another Flamingo Air aircraft experienced a reported issue while en route to Mayaguana and returned to Nassau. After the plane landed and passengers safely exited, the aircraft caught fire. Authorities are also investigating that incident.
