Law enforcement in Louisville, Kentucky received a call regarding a possible attempted kidnapping in Shively on July 4th. The caller reported seeing a man with no shirt who appeared to be trying to grab a teenage girl.
Officers responded to the area and located the victim. The teen girl told officers that she had been searching for her dog when a man had approached her asking for money. She told officers that when she told him she didn't have any money, the man began inappropriately touching her multiple times. As she tried to get away from the man, he grabbed her by the shirt and pulled so hard that he actually ripped her shirt.
The girl's mother and sister reported they had witnessed the man following the victim as she fled towards her home.
Officers began to patrol the neighborhood, looking for the suspect. They soon found 47-year-old Lonza Manuel a few blocks from the home. Officers began to question Lonza and noted a distinct smell of alcohol emminating from him. Lonza denied having any interactions with any young girls. Officers ultimately detained Lonza and drove him to the victim's home, where she positively identified him.
Lonza Mauel was charged with first-degree sezual abuse, harassment involving physical contact and alcohol intoxication in public.
Lonza Mauel is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 6th.
