 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND APPREHENDS SUSPECT FOR MALICIOUS DAMAGE VANDALISM AND STEALING  GOVERNMENT PROPERTY


*SUSPECT*

Chigozirim Elem, male, 25 years, of Amasiri, Afikpo North LGA, Ebonyi State, resident in Ugwunchara, Umuahia North LGA, Abia State.


*EXHIBITS RECOVERED*

* Four (4) double doors

* One (1) single iron door


*FACTS OF THE CASE*

1. In the command sustained effort to combat crime and protect public infrastructure, operatives of the Mike Okiro Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on actionable intelligence and in collaboration with the community vigilante, apprehended Chigozirim Elem, male, 25 years, who on 11th July 2026, unlawfully gained access into four (4) unallocated shops at Ubani Government Market and maliciously damaged and vandalized the premises and stole four (4) double doors and one (1) single iron door.


2. Upon sighting security operatives, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. The stolen items were successfully recovered.The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.


3. The Command reiterates its commitment to safeguarding public assets and maintaining law and order.
