The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), the Federal Ministry of Health and the West Africa Centre for Public Health and Development, has concluded a two-day recruitment interview for personnel to support the forthcoming Nationwide Integrated Biological and Behavioural Surveillance Survey (IBBSS).

The exercise, held on July 14 at the ANSACA headquarters in Awka, is part of preparations for the national survey, with Anambra selected as one of the 12 states participating in the exercise.

The IBBSS is a major public health survey designed to generate reliable data that will inform evidence based policies, strengthen HIV prevention and treatment programmes,  improving healthcare planning and service delivery across Nigeria.

Speaking at the conclusion of the recruitment exercise, the Executive Director and Project Manager of ANSACA, Dr. Nkem Okeke, expressed satisfaction with the transparent conduct of the selection process, commending the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the Federal Ministry of Health and the West Africa Centre for Public Health and Development for their collaboration.

He noted that the survey would provide up to date information needed to strengthen Nigeria's HIV response, particularly among populations most affected by the epidemic.

Dr. Okeke expressed appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his sustained investment in the health sector, noting that the administration's reforms have continued to position the state for strategic national and international health interventions.

According to him, the governor's commitment to strengthening the healthcare system has enhanced Anambra's capacity to attract key public health programmes and partnerships that improve health outcomes for residents.

He described the successful completion of the recruitment exercise as another important milestone in preparations for the nationwide survey, expressing confidence that the selected personnel would contribute to the successful implementation of the IBBSS in the state.
