  Two arrested over k!lling of popular Kano Social Media political commentator The police in Kano State says two persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a popular political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu. Ibrahim, who is known on social media for his strong views on politics and religion in Nigeria, was found dead with his throat slit in his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Monday, September 9.  Confirming the incident to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call about the incident on Monday at about 11:30pm.  “Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,” the statement said The police said the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer have arrested the two suspects in connection with the unfor...

ANAMBRA HOS PROBES ALLEGED EXTORTION OF DEFUNCT AGENCY STAFF, INVITES PETITIONS FROM AFFECTED EMPLOYEES

The Anambra State Head of Civil Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Esq., mni, has constituted an Investigation Committee to probe allegations of extortion reportedly perpetrated against staff of the defunct Anambra State Water Corporation and Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA), while inviting affected staff to submit petitions.


The disclosure was made in a release issued and signed on  July 28, by the Head of Civil Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Esq., mni.


According to the release, staff members of the two defunct agencies who were allegedly compelled to pay money to any individual or group in connection with matters relating to their employment, entitlements or any related official process have been invited to submit written petitions.


The petitions should clearly state the details of the alleged extortion and be addressed to the Secretary, Investigation Committee, Director, IRS/RAPID Department, Office of the Head of Service, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.


The office stated that all petitions must reach the Office of the Head of Service on or before the close of work on August 5.


Affected staff members were also advised to attach copies of any relevant evidence or supporting documents to enable the Committee to conduct a thorough, fair and objective investigation.


The Anambra State Government assured petitioners that all submissions would be treated with the utmost confidentiality, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and justice in the public service.


The Head of Civil Service encouraged all affected staff to take advantage of the opportunity to provide credible information that would assist the Committee in establishing the facts, holding those found culpable accountable and strengthening integrity within the state's public service.
