Four of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's children have now filed to legally remove "Pitt" from their surnames, with a source close to Jolie saying the actress hopes the family can move forward.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Vivienne filed a petition on July 21 to change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The reason for the request is listed as "personal."
Vivienne joins her siblings Zahara, Maddox and Shiloh, who have also sought to legally remove "Pitt" from their names. Shiloh's petition was granted in August 2024, while the requests filed by Zahara and Maddox are still pending.
Commenting on the latest filing, a source close to Jolie said the actress is focused on healing rather than conflict.
"Angie hasn't been fighting and isn't angry. She just wants everyone to heal," the source told PEOPLE.
The source also said the children have chosen not to publicly discuss the reasons behind their decisions.
"If people knew the whole truth, they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them," the source said. "The fact they aren't speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency."
Vivienne's petition seeks to change her legal name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Zahara has requested to become Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox is seeking the name Maddox Chivan Jolie.
Following Shiloh's successful name change last year, Zahara and Maddox also published legal notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, a requirement under California law before their court hearings.
According to court records, Maddox's hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14, Zahara's for Sept. 28 and Vivienne's for Nov. 2.
A source close to Pitt previously told PEOPLE it was "sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent."
Neither Jolie nor Pitt has publicly commented on the children's legal name change petitions. Pitt most recently spoke publicly about family during a June 2025 red carpet interview ahead of the release of F1.
