 Kenya orders closure of small-scale businesses owned by foreigners Kenyan President William Ruto ordered authorities to begin shutting down small businesses operated by foreign nationals from Monday, Sept. 7, saying hawking and small-scale retail should be reserved for Kenyans. Speaking to micro, small and medium enterprise traders at State House in Nairobi, Ruto said Kenya welcomes foreign investment but argued that foreigners should not compete with citizens in businesses requiring little capital. "From next week, all traders doing those small businesses should close them," Ruto said, Anadolu Agency reported. "We have made efforts to improve the economy, we have not improved investor confidence for hawkers to come to Kenya," he added. ‘Prioritising Kenyan citizens’ Ruto said the government would push ahead with legislation aimed at defining areas of economic activity that should prioritise Kenyan citizens.

 ARREST OF THREE (3) SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVERY OF FIREARMS AND DANGEROUS WEAPONS


The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation in Imota, recovering firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons.


The operation followed credible information from members of the public on the activities of suspected cultists in Imota. Acting on the credible intelligence, operatives of the Command stormed the location and arrested Jelili Adeyemo ‘m’,  37 years; alleged to be the armourer of the group, Bisoye Adewale ‘m’ 42 years, and John Okeafo ‘m’ 60 years. Recovered exhibits include one Beretta pistol, one locally made pistol, seven (7) Dane guns, ten (10) live cartridges, seven (7) expended cartridges, one stun gun, two (2) handcuffs, and four (4) cutlasses and other exhibits. 


Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of the Aiye Confraternity, while the recovered Beretta pistol allegedly belongs to a notorious cultist known as "Mayibone," who is currently at large. The suspects have been arraigned and remanded, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members and recover additional weapons.


The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reaffirmed the Command's commitment to tackling cultism and other violent crimes across the State. He urged residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to aid ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
