Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998.  Bret Michaels had emergency kidney stone surgery, went straight from a show to the hospital

Bret Michaels has revealed that he underwent emergency surgery for a kidney stone while in the middle of his Live & Amplified tour. The Poison frontman explained in a Facebook post that after nearly a week of trying to pass the stone, the pain became unbearable.

Despite the discomfort, he continued performing in Charleston, Grantville, and at a special show for veterans at Fairchild Air Force Base before being admitted to the hospital the following day. He praised the doctors and nurses who treated him, expressing gratitude for their care and support.

Michaels assured fans that the operation went smoothly and that he is now recovering, determined to return to the stage once he receives a clean bill of health.

He shared lighthearted details about being rushed straight from a concert into a hospital gown, clarifying why he appeared in photos still wearing his stage clothes.

On Instagram, he reiterated his appreciation for the medical team and the audience at Fairchild AFB, calling the show a “great concert & celebration” despite the pain he was enduring.

This update comes shortly after Michaels withdrew from the Freedom 250 concert, citing safety concerns and disappointment that the event had shifted from a unifying celebration to something divisive.

He explained that threats against his fans, crew, and family prompted the difficult decision to step away.

While emphasizing his belief in music’s power to bring people together, Michaels made clear that health, safety, and positivity remain his top priorities as he continues his career.
